“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works.” II Timothy 3:16-17
Many people are longtime committed loyalists to the King James Version of the Bible and for good reason. The King James Version has stood the test of time. It has been and continues to be a recognized authority, has maintained a reputation for accuracy, and continues to be reverently accepted.
However, some passages of the Authorized King James Version are somewhat difficult to read and understand because of the archaic language. Unfortunately, more and more people are abandoning the King James Version for one or more of the multitude of “modern day translations”. Regrettably, however, some of these “modern translations” are not as good of a translation as the Authorized King James Version.
So, is there an authoritative, accurate, and acceptable balance between the King James Version with some of its archaic language and the modern day translations with some of their questionable wordings? Yes, I believe there is. It’s called The American King James Version.
The American King James Version is a translation of the Bible based on the original King James Version and more specifically the 1769 Blayney edition. It is a simple word for word update of the King James Version and its Elizabethan language. Care has been taken to change nothing doctrinally, but rather update the spelling and vocabulary to the American version of the English language. The American King James Version of the Bible was placed into the public domain on November 8, 1999.
